Distributor profile- Paint Related Products Inc. www.prpsystems.net
One of the many facets that is absolutely crucial to the seamless operation of the global auto industry, is the supply chain that supports it. No aspect of that supply chain is any more important than the non-stop need for, and consumption of process equipment and supplies, required to keep the juggernaut moving in the right direction. Shortages in even the smallest part, component or consumable can slow or even stop production.
In the auto industry, and other similar manufacturing arenas, one major category to be considered is fluid delivery equipment. Everything from paint process to sealers and adhesive dispense automation is reliant on the supply and smooth operation of fluid delivery equipment. It’s a giant industry in and of itself.
Suppliers are vitally important partners to the industry and distributors are an equally important sub-category that the auto industry and others, lean on heavily in order to keep their operations going. As distributors go, Paint Related Products is a model citizen. Here’s a small glimpse of what it takes to thrive in the distribution game.
Founder/President Bruce Byers, launched Paint Related Products (PRP) in 1995 as a sales representative, distributor, and system integrator. Centrally located to the Midwest auto industry, PRP resides in a 10,000 square foot building in Howell, MI. The product lines they sell and support are used to handle all types of liquids and semi-solid materials. These are used to spray, mix, meter, agitate, re-circulate, temperature condition, dispense, pump, and control all types of fluids such as paints, sealants, lubricants, foams, and adhesives.
When asked about PRP’s mission, Bruce commented, “We were founded on a simple quality policy that demands excellence and continuous improvement in everything we do. We understand our customer’s requirements for quality, reliability, maintainability, and durability. We meet those requirements on time, and take corrective action where appropriate. No defects or delays are acceptable. Quality is the individual responsibility of every PRP employee”.
PRP Inc. is a full service, stocking distributor with many years of experience in their field. Their key focus is on the auto, auto tier and industrial end user. They are a certified Graco repair center and have full time service personnel for dispatch to their customer’s facilities, which generally fall within a 200 mile radius of their HQ in Howell.
PRP stocks many other brands too, including Hosco and Carlisle and their experienced sales and service teams assist customers in the application, system design and maintenance of all the products they sell.
PRP has about 100 years of combined service experience in-house as well. With 4 full time service personnel and in-house lab capability, PRP can assist in Pre-production, duplicate process capability, testing, and material validation. They’re also a stocking distributor so parts are on-hand when their customers need them and with PRP staff on-site at customer’s facilities, inventory control and parts delivery service is their specialty. These are important factors for their loyal customer base that includes FCA, Ford and GM.
PRP President, Bruce Byers commented that with almost 25 years in business, countless customers and 17 employees, there are always challenges in the distribution business. Everything from ever present competition, regulatory issues (PRP is ISN certified), and rising costs, to constant fluctuations in the economy make for an interesting endeavor. The fact that PRP is still going strong is testament to their capabilities and focus on the customer. While some distributors only act as order takers, PRP is different and by all accounts is meeting the challenges, exceeding their customer’s expectations and is a model for what a distributor needs to be in this day and age. A dedication to service, before and after the sale, is what matters. Paint Related Products Inc. can be reached at 517-540-6000, or at www.prpsystems.net
